If you are considering Botox in Vancouver, one of the first questions you probably have is: how long does it actually last? The answer depends on several factors — and understanding them can help you plan your treatments and maintain your results.
For most Vancouver clients, Botox lasts 3 to 4 months.
Results are not permanent. Botox temporarily relaxes the muscles that cause expression lines. Over time, the muscle activity gradually returns and lines begin to reappear.
Some clients see results lasting closer to 5 months. Others notice their Botox wearing off at the 2.5-month mark. Several factors explain why.
Clients with faster metabolisms tend to break down Botox more quickly. This is one of the most common reasons results wear off sooner than expected.
There is no way to slow your metabolism, but your injector can adjust your dosage to compensate.
Some facial muscles are stronger and more active than others. Areas with high muscle activity — like the forehead and frown lines — may wear off faster than areas like crow’s feet.
Jaw slimming treatments with Botox often last longer because the masseter muscle responds well to higher doses.
More units generally means longer-lasting results. Under-dosing is one of the most common reasons clients feel their Botox did not last as long as expected.
At First Ave Medical Spa, your injector assesses your muscle strength during consultation and recommends the right unit count for your goals.
Clients who maintain regular Botox appointments over time often find their results lasting longer. With consistent treatment, the targeted muscles gradually weaken — meaning less muscle activity between sessions.
The Canadian Dermatology Association recommends working with a qualified provider to establish a treatment schedule that suits your skin and lifestyle.
Younger clients with stronger skin elasticity tend to see results that appear more dramatic and last slightly longer. Clients with significant skin laxity may still benefit from Botox but may need complementary treatments for optimal results.
Most Vancouver clients notice Botox starting to work within 3 to 7 days of treatment. Full results appear at the 2-week mark.
If you are not seeing results after 2 weeks, contact your provider. A small touch-up may be needed — this is normal, especially for first-time clients.
You will notice gradual movement returning to the treated area. Expression lines will begin to reappear when the muscle starts contracting again.
This happens slowly — it is not an overnight change. Most clients schedule their next appointment when they notice movement returning, typically around the 3-month mark.
There are several things Vancouver clients can do to extend their results:
Most clients book appointments every 3 to 4 months to maintain consistent results.
Some clients with slower metabolisms or lower muscle activity book every 4 to 5 months. Your provider will recommend the right schedule based on how your skin responds.
The College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC requires all injectable treatments in British Columbia to be performed or directly supervised by a licensed medical professional. At First Ave Medical Spa, all Botox treatments are physician-directed.
All three neuromodulators — Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin — last approximately 3 to 4 months for most clients.
Dysport may work slightly faster but does not necessarily last longer. Xeomin, being a purer formula, performs similarly in terms of duration.

First-time clients often find Botox lasts slightly less time — around 2.5 to 3 months. This is normal. As you continue with regular treatments the results tend to last longer because the muscles gradually weaken over time.
Not always. Longevity depends heavily on the number of units used and the skill of your injector. Under-dosed treatments wear off faster. At First Ave Medical Spa in Kitsilano, dosing is based on your facial anatomy and muscle strength — not a flat rate.
Yes. Intense exercise immediately after treatment, heat exposure, and a fast metabolism can all shorten how long Botox lasts. Following your aftercare instructions carefully helps protect your results.
For most clients, yes. Botox is one of the most clinically studied cosmetic treatments in Canada with a strong safety record. Results are visible, predictable, and require no downtime. Most Vancouver clients find the 3 to 4 month results well worth the investment.
