Laser Hair Removal

Say Goodbye to hair and hello to a smooth new you.

Proven laser hair removal technology that is open to clients with any skin type or tone. You will save time, you will save money, and you will be free from hair!

At the First Ave Medical Spa, we understand the true impact of unwanted hair. Whatever your motivations for getting rid of your hair permanently, we can help you achieve this, and so much more, with our highly-effective laser hair removal treatments.

For our laser hair removal, we use a world-renowned device called the Gentle Max Pro. This delivers a targeted beam of laser light that is aimed directly at the hair. It is then absorbed into the pigment and converted to heat, causing enough damage to the hair follicle so as to prevent future growth.

Laser hair removal treatments can range between minutes to an hour, depending on the type of hair you have, your skin tone, and the size of the area you would like to be treated.

Regardless of your skin type or tone, or the thickness and density of your hair, you can benefit from laser hair removal treatments.

While the primary goal of a laser hair removal treatment is to remove unwanted hair, there are other added benefits that you will experience.

Because we use a targeted device, the heating that occurs as a result of the laser being directed at the skin also provides supplementary advantages such as helping your skin to become that little bit firmer, it can also enhance cell production which can work to lessen the appearance of scarring that may have been incurred as a result of shaving nicks and ingrowing hairs.

FAQ

  • Why do people get laser hair removal?
There are so many reasons people decide to book a laser hair removal treatment. The most common of which is to rid themselves from the weekly process of having to shave. Whether you are dealing with excessive or unwanted hair growth, or you simply want to save yourself time or money, it can help for all of these reasons.
  • Is laser hair removal treatment painful?
One of the distinct advantages of booking a laser hair removal treatment with the team at the First Ave Medical Spa is the type of tools we use. Our GentleMax Pro laser hair removal treatments use a dynamic cooling device which helps to gently prepare the skin prior to the laser shot by spraying the upper layers of the skin with a refreshingly cool burst of cryogen. This is delivered milliseconds before the laser pulse hits the surface of the skin in adjustable durations. By using this technique, we ensure that our laser hair removal treatments are just as comfortable as they are effective. In addition, we apply cooling pads before and after the treatment to calm the area down.
  • How long does laser hair removal takes?
Each of our clients will require something different when they come to us for their laser hair removal treatment. The size and location of the area that needs to be treated, along with the thickness and type of the hair are both key – determining factors when deciding upon how long the laser hair removal treatment will last for.
  • How long does laser hair removal results lasts?
Following every laser hair removal treatment, the growth of the hair in the area that is treated will be reduced. While it is never assured that laser hair removal is permanent, you can rest assured that when compared with other treatments, such as waxing or epilating, the results are far more favorable.

The easiest way to answer this question is to explain how hair growth works. Hair grows in cycles, and when you attend a laser hair removal treatment, some of your hair will not be in an active stage of growth, while others will.

Once you meet with us, we will be able to review your precise needs and provide you with a treatment plan that will get you to where you need to be. Following the initial course of laser hair removal treatments, it is recommended that you have a top-up appointment on an annual basis.

  • What should I do before I attend laser hair removal treatment?

Before attending the spa for your laser hair removal appointment, there are a couple of practical measures you can take in order to prepare for your treatment. These are really viewed as precautionary and are in no way compulsory, but advisable wherever possible.

Stay away from anything which could darken your skin such as a tanning bed or be heavily exposed to sunlight. We ask that you try to avoid the sun for 2 weeks before and after your laser hair removal treatment.

If you are taking any type of medication that could make your skin more sensitive to the light, then please inform us of this or talk to your medical practitioner to seek guidance as to whether or not it is the right time to undergo laser hair removal.

We cannot perform laser hair removal on any area that is sunburned or if you have an artificial or spray tan.

Finally, we ask you to shave the area to be treated 24-hours before attending your laser hair removal appointment.

  • What happens after laser hair removal treatment?
Directly after having a laser hair removal treatment, it is perfectly normal for there to a general redness or swelling of the target area. It might also feel a little sensitive to touch and could feel a little sunburned. This is absolutely fine, and due to using a beam of laser heat so close to the skin, it is expected. You can either use an aloe gel or even a cool compress to help comfort and soothe the treated area after the treatment. Any redness or swelling should start to subside after just a few hours, in some instances, it may last for just a few days only.

Treatment gaps are usually spaced around 4 weeks apart.

  • What should I do after laser hair removal treatment?

As a precautionary measure, we would always advise you to avoid exposing your skin to direct sunlight. This is due to the fact that sun exposure could lead to hyperpigmentation. If you need to be in the sun, then you should always use a UVB/UVA sunscreen which is at least factor 30.

Take care so as not to rub or scrub the area which has been treated in the immediate days following your laser hair removal treatment.
