Platelet-Rich Plasma

Platelets are cells that naturally assist your body in healing and generating new tissue. Platelets also contain Growth Factors, which are involved in stem cell migration, and ultimately activate, rejuvenate and regenerate cells throughout the body.

Platelet-Rich Plasma

PRP is designed to use the body’s native repair process to help restore its natural beauty. Growth factors, contained in whole blood and separated by the centrifuge, are scientifically known to:

  • Boost tissue regeneration
  • Stimulate collagen production
  • Leave skin smoother, softer, and more hydrated.

The PRP treatment aids the body in naturally healing itself through the fractionation of whole blood to isolate plasma, which contains a concentrate of nutrients, specialized proteins, and platelets. Platelets contain unique and innate biological Growth Factors involved in stem cell migration and cellular regeneration, and ultimately activate the repair process within the body. By isolating the platelet-rich portion of whole blood and injecting it back into tissue repair sites, imperfections can be corrected and the signs of aging can be improved upon using the natural biology and inherent physiology of the body.

Virtually any area can be treated with PRP, from the face and neck to the hands! If you’re interested in finding out more about PRP, we are happy to provide a complimentary consultation.

How it's different

mesotherapy and bio revitilization
At First Ave Medical Spa we use the U225 injector gun to perform PRP. This French made injector is the most sophisticated mesotherapy injector currently available on the market. It is fully automatic, powered by pneumatic pressure generated by an air compressor. The U225 has two basic modes of function which allow continuous injection, intermittent injection a raffle and point-par-point. In the intermittent mode, the user can vary the injection frequency from 1 every 3 seconds to 300 per minute. This versatility can practically satisfy any technique.

The process

  1. Small of amount of blood is collected.
  2. The blood is then spun in a centrifuge to separate the different components. (e.g., red blood cells, white blood cells and plasma).
  3. Once the blood has been separated, the plasma (PRP) is extracted from the tube.
  4. The PRP is injected into the desired treatment area.

FAQ

  • What result should I expect?
PRP stimulates collagen and cell growth which does take time. There is the chance of slight swelling following the procedure, and once this subsides, the production of new cells, collagen and support structure begins. After 1 week, the treated area will look smoother as new cells fill in under the epidermis. The effects are long-lasting and reasonable results can be achieved with one treatment, however, repeat treatments may be needed to maintain or enhance the results. Results can last anywhere from a year, up to 4 years, depending on the patient.
  • How long will it take the treatment to work?
Usually, within the first week of having the PRP treatment, you will notice that the area will look and feel smoother. However, the results are further enhanced in the following 4-6 weeks as the new cells form in the dermis.
  • How many sessions will I need?
Clients report visible results after just a single treatment. However, in order to achieve the optimal results, there may be a requirement for 3-4 sessions to be undertaken spaced 4-6 week apart. At First Ave Medical Spa, we always consult with our clients before any treatment is carried out to advise them fully of the number of sessions needed to help with their individual skin objectives.
  • Are there any side effects?
Because PRP treatment uses no other substances except those contained within your own blood, there is no risk of any adverse or allergic reactions occurring. As with any injectable treatment, there is always a slight risk of bruising or swelling which may occur in the area that is being treated. Following the treatment, redness will subside within 30 minutes. Typically clients feel swelling and tightness of the treated area that disappears 24 hours post-procedure. There is also a risk of development of tiny bruises that heal within 1 week.
  • Is PRP painful?
Because everybody has differing pain thresholds, there is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question. You will feel a mosquito-bite-like sensation while the injections are taking place, but the treatment is virtually painless.
