IPL Photorejuvenation

IPL Photorejuvenation is a non-invasive skin health and restoration treatment that reduces the damage inflicted to your skin from the sun, aging and biological factors. This non-laser technology supplies a broad spectrum of light which reaches deep down within the skin, targeting pigment, vascular imperfections, flushing, rosacea, acne scarring and uneven skin tones.

For skin therapy, IPL stimulates new collagen growth, resulting in smoother, more even skin. This is an excellent choice for men and women of all ages. IPL is a simple technique with minimal discomfort and downtime.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) hand piece emits a range of lightwaves that are then tuned and targeted at hemoglobin (the red blood cells in the blood vessels) or melanin (the brown pigment in freckles and age spots). The light beam passes through the skin and is absorbed by either hemoglobin or melanin resulting in coagulation of the vessel or fragmenting of melanin pigment. These tiny vessels and the melanin pigment are then absorbed by the body, rendering them less visible. The collagen stimulation is a bonus and happens from the heat used in the treatment.

IPL remedies:

– Sun damaged skin
– Brown spots, age spots, freckles
– Rosacea, redness and flushing of the skin
– Broken blood vessels on the face
– Redness from acne scars
– Reduces pore size
– Fine lines and tightens skin tone

This procedure has low to minimal downtime for patients needing mild correction and typically 1-5 days for those with more severe damage.  During this time, it is recommended that patients avoid activity that will increase the temperature of the skin such as using a steam room, performing vigorous exercise, and exposing the treated area to the sun unprotected.

Results are often seen after only one session, however for deeper correction and lasting benefits, 2-5 sessions are typically recommended with maintenance depending on sun exposure and other environmental factors.

Since the IPL is attracted to pigment in the skin, it is important that the skin is not tanned.  We recommend wearing a minimum of 30 SPF and booking a treatment when your skin is in a pre-tan state.  This will produce maximum results and decrease potential negative side effects.
