GentleMax Pro Laser Hair Removal

Ditch the razors and wax and start saving money with permanent hair reduction treatments from First Ave. Medical Spa. Using the best in hair reduction technology, we offer effective laser hair removal services to clients of any skin type or tone. Often times laser hair removal devices use technologies that are better for either lighter or darker skin tones, but with GentleMax Pro technology, our technicians select the right laser for your skin tone so that you see optimal results.

Treatment programs using the GentleMax Pro generally require four to six sessions, spread approximately six weeks apart. Each session lasts an average of 22 minutes, making it easy to schedule your treatments in your lunch hour. Plus, with GentleMax Pro’s patented cooling system, the Dynamic Cooling Device™, small amounts of liquid cryogen are released to cool skin and minimize pain during treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Laser energy is delivered through a small handpiece operated by your practitioner. The laser delivers an intense beam of light, which is absorbed by the skin and converted to heat. The heat is then absorbed by the cells being targeted, while the surrounding tissue remains unaffected. Your skin may be slightly red immediately following the procedure. This typically lasts from a few minutes to several hours after the procedure.

Candela’s Laser Hair Removal treatments use a patented Dynamic Cooling Device™ (DCD™), which prepares the skin for treatment by spraying the upper layer with a cooling burst of cryogen in adjustable durations—milliseconds before the laser pulse. DCD helps ensure that the treatments are as comfortable as they are effective.

Treatment times may vary depending on your specific needs. Hair growth is reduced after each treatment and the number of treatments required will be based on your hair color and type, body area and skin tone.

Avoid the sun 4-6 weeks before and after treatment. Patients who are actively tan or sunburned will need to re-schedule their treatment session. Additionally you cannot be treated if you have a spray or artificial tan. We ask you to shave the area to be treated 24 hours prior to your appointment.

Immediately after treatment, there will be redness and swelling and the area will feel sunburned. A cool compress or aloe vera gel may be applied for comfort following your treatment. Any redness or swelling should resolve within a few hours, but sometimes can last for two to three days.

There is temporary redness and swelling that occurs immediately after treatment. Other rare side effects include hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, blistering and purpura (a laser bruise) in the treated area.

Sun exposure after treatment can increase risk of hyperpigmentation, so we recommend sun avoidance and use of broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen SPF 30 or higher. In the first few days after treatment, don’t scrub or rinse the treated areas with abrasive skin cleansers. Written post treatment guidelines will be provided after your treatment.
